Eco-friendly drink bottles on sale

Plastic might have made our lives easier in the 20th century, but it hasn't done the environment much good.

A range of new stainless steel drinking bottles might help you cut down on those pesky plastic ones.

One Green Bottle Ltd, an eco-friendly company based in East Sussex, has made the stainless steel bottles in a range of sizes, from 350ml to 1L.

The durable, reusable bottles are made from food hygiene approved stainless steel. They are guaranteed for six months and cost £8.50.

"I was looking for a clean, odourless sports bottle for my son to take to school each day and I couldn't get one in the UK," One Green Bottle director Heather Nicholson explains.

"When I investigated plastics and the alternatives, I became determined to do something positive and found stainless steel, which saves money, time and effort, tastes purer and I know it isn't manufactured using harmful chemicals."

Bisphenol A is an ingredient often used in the production of polycarbonate plastic, used to make baby and water bottles. The chemical has been linked to cancer, autism, genetic damage, miscarriage, brain defects and childhood obesity. In Canada, many major stores are removing children's products that contain Bisphenol A from the shelves.
