Coastal Flooding and Erosion
![]() |
Thousands of coastal homes and businesses face falling victim to flooding and erosion over the course of this century, according to the Environment Agency.
The South coast in particular is under most threat. Experts are predicting that more than 2,200 houses and firms in low lying areas along the Pagham-to-East-Head stretch of coastline in West Sussex face flooding as sea levels rise.
In Scotland, the situation is not much better. Experts are predicting the world famous St. Andrews golf course, known as the home of golf, could disappear into the sea by 2050.
In the gallery below we've taken a look at how the UK coastline is already being affected by flooding and erosion.
